Brief Rules of Foursomes
A foursome, also known as alternate shot.
All the Official Rules in Golf apply during foursomes play.
Golfers compete in teams of two, using only one ball per team, and taking alternate shots until the hole is completed.
Team members take turns in teeing off on each hole, i.e. one player will take the tee shot on odd-numbered holes, and the other on even-numbered holes.
And then swap tees on the 2nd 18 hole.
Note that penalty strokes do not affect which golfer on the side plays next. The order of playing strokes is always A-B-A-B and so on.
If a team must drop a ball, the player whose turn it is to play next must handle the drop.
In stroke play, a foursomes side combines its two players' handicaps and divides by two.
